Hosts a coaching clinic session with Mumbai Indian players for budding cricketers
Mumbai, May, 2016: Videocon d2h, India’s fastest growing DTH service provider and the Team Sponsor of Mumbai Indians, provided an unforgettable experience for a group of school students by hosting a cricket coaching session with the Mumbai Indians head coaches & star players.
A group of budding cricketers from a Mumbai school were thrilled to share nets with their favourites from the Mumbai Indians team. Ricky Ponting, Jhonty Rhodes, Parthiv Patel, Shane Bond & Krunal Pandya spent their evening with the young talent giving them valuable tips and sharing tricks of the game. The youngsters were then treated to a cricket master class, testing their new skills in bowling and batting against their heroes today at the Islam Gymkhana, Marine Drive.
The players also signed autographs and posed for pictures, while they also presented them with mementos.
“I was completely awestruck when I saw the MI players on the field rather than on a television. Watching and playing cricket is my passion and sharing the nets with my idols is a dream come true.” said 12-year-old Vijay.
Ricky Ponting, Head Coach, Mumbai Indians said, “ The coaching staff and our boys had great time today teaching these enthusiastic kids some basic cricketing tips. We hope they had fun while learning as much as we did. It’s a good initiative by Videocon d2h to organise this engagement and to motivate the kids to take up the sport,”
Videocon d2h has a long history of supporting cricket through its long term association with the Mumbai Indians IPL team.
“It is immensely satisfying that, through our association with the Mumbai Indians team, Videocon d2h is able to undertake initiatives that make a positive impact on young people,” said Saurabh Dhoot, Executive Chairman, Videocon d2h. “It was incredible to see the look on the youngsters’ faces when they saw their favourite players as coaches and playing with them today. Mr Anil Khera, CEO-Videocon d2h added, “Cricket is a religion in India. Meeting the idols who are watched on television by billion people can have an incredible impact on youngsters.
