League hosts, Balewadi basketball court, first in the country to get state-of-the-art international floor
Pune, July 14, 2016: After an exciting second season, the Pro Basketball League is all set to thrill fans across the country once again. Season three will feature an international standard stadium that has been revamped with an international level floor, the first of its kind in the country, along with Spalding goals. The league will commence on the 15th of this month, until the 31st of July, 2016 at the Balewadi Stadium, representing eight city teams whilst presenting some of the country’s finest players.
The United Basketball Alliance (UBA) embarks on their journey of the Pro Basketball League with eight professional teams across different cities of India who will participate to win the Championship title. The league is structured on a league cum knockout basis. Season 3 sees the teams divided into two sections: Mumbai Challengers, Delhi Capitals, Haryana Gold, Punjab Steelers form the North Division, and the Chennai Slam, Pune Peshwas , Bengaluru Beast and Hyderabad Sky make up the South Division.
Present at the conference were Michael Yanke, Chief Marketing Officer – UBA, Todd Mack, Managing Director – UBA, Nandini Basappa, Vice President – Basketball Federation of India and Vivek Mehta, Director – UBA.
When speaking about season three, CEO of United Basketball Alliance, Tommy Fisher said, “After an overwhelming response to the earlier seasons of the UBA Pro Basketball League, we endeavour to make this edition bigger than before. The league will feature an international standard floor exported to India for the first time. I can assure fans that the 3rd season of the league will be even more riveting than its previous editions. With Spalding and Evo1, I am sure the game is going to be further enhanced and expose our players to global playing standards.”
The specially crafted floor will be a key attraction this season. It is the first time in India that an NBA level floor has been set up for the players to experience international basketball standards. The high-quality floor imported from the United States is a long-term investment and was previously featured in the 2016 NBA All-Star festivities in Toronto. The floor is an exclusive design from the UBA. Some of the sport’s greats have played their best games on similar floors.
Apart from the new floor, this season also features Spalding as the official provider of all goals for the league. These, like the floor, have been imported from the USA. A trained Spalding professional has been brought to India to install and train the Indian team members to assemble and install the goals on the UBA floor.
The UBA has also partnered with Evo 1 Sports for the official basketball of the league. Evo 1 Sports has created a one-of-a-kind ball with a surface specially formulated and designed for the UBA. The ball has received favorable reviews from professional players in the USA and is certain to be a preferred choice among Indian professionals too.
The previous seasons of the United Basketball Alliance were held in Hyderabad and Pune.
