Chennai– Marking an unprecedented ramp-up in India’s commercial vehicle industry, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) celebrates the fifth anniversary of the market launch of BharatBenz trucks. Since September 2012, the brand has continuously advanced despite adverse conditions such as an overall industry downturn or multiple market distortions in 2016. More than 55,000 trucks have been delivered to customers across India.

In just five years, we have firmly established BharatBenz as an aspirational brand in the world’s toughest commercial vehicle market. In the current year 2017, DICV expects to achieve significant growthwith BharatBenz. For the first time, the brand progressed into double-digit market share in recent months, based on strong momentum gained with the BS-IV transition.

Customer demand has been particularly strong in the 16-49 tonnes segment, further extending our position as the clear number three in heavy-duty trucks.We have thus taken the next step and moved to two-shift operations at our manufacturing plant.”
Reflecting persistent strong order intake, DICV decided to add a second shift at its truck plant in Oragadam near Chennai. The increase in output will also cater to expected further growth in DICV’s export business, in which the company has sold more than 10,000 trucks since 2013 and will serve 40 markets by the end of the year.
Fast track to air quality improvements: BharatBenz introducesEuro-V ready medium-duty trucks
To commemorate its fifth anniversary in the Indian market and to illustrate potentials to achieve further air quality improvements quickly, BharatBenz handed over its first Euro-V ready medium-duty trucks to customers. Said Mr. Erich Nesselhauf: “BharatBenz will continue to push the limits of India’s commercial vehicle industry. We led the transition to the BS-IV standard, and we are proud to hand over to customers Euro-Vready trucks today. Improvements of air quality beyond the BS-IV levels can be achieved immediately.”
In line with the Euro-V emissions standard, nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions are reduced by more than 40 percent compared to BS-IV. Nitrogen oxides are considered to be a major source of air pollution in high-traffic metro areas which leads to respiratory diseases and other negative impacts on people and environment.

10K INTENCITY Run in Indore shifts to 1st October, 2017

Indore, September 2017: One of India’s biggest running circuit, the 10K INTENCITY Run Indore leg which was originally scheduled to take place on 24th September, announced today that it has been pushed ahead by a week to October 1, 2017 owning to the bilateral cricket series between India and Australia which is being held on the same day as the earlier scheduled marathon date.

Mr. Anand Menezes, Ex-Olympian, Founder & Director, Andy Event Management said, “We are overwhelmed by the response we are receiving from citizens of Indore city. After consultation with the various local officials and authorities in Indore, we have been requested to postpone the race to October 1, 2017 as it would be a logistical issue for authorities. We wish the entire city joins this movement and becomes a part of this novel initiative which will be held across various parts of the country”.

The registration of the Indore race will continue till September 30, 2017. Furthermore, the organisers will be taking on the spot registration on the day of the 10K INTENCITY RUN EXPO to be held on Saturday September 30, 2017 at The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The 10K INTENCITY marathon which covers 10 cities across India, started with Pune, will now be followed by Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Baroda, Delhi and will culminate in Goa. There are three categories for runners – 10 km, 5 km and 2 km respectively, who can get registered. The amateur and elite runners could register for 10 km Run whereas aspiring kids could register themselves for 2km Future Champions Run. The event will also conduct a 5km Fun Run to create more enthusiasm among runners.

The 10K INTENCITY Run aims to create awareness by spreading the message of Green, Healthy India among city denizens. The total prize money for the winners of the 10K INTENCITY Run across cities is Rs. 50 lacs.

Indore27th September 2017: In India the number of lives lost to road accidents is over 1,682 times more than that to terrorism.We are the world’s sixth-largest car market, but ours is the only country among the global top ten car markets but in the field of road safety we are behind rest of the world. To raise awareness about this fact, IIM – Udaan will run this year for road safety. Aim of this marathon is to create awareness about the consequence of one mistake on road and to inform that if we use proper safety measures these road accidents can be avoided easily.
UDAAN as an idea, conceptualized in the year 2008, took off with an aim to make a meaningful difference, and to give back to the society.
